Alteration Policy
Welcome to Your Bridal Alterations Experience
Thank you for choosing Wilder to be part of your bridal journey. It is a privilege to work on such an important garment, and Wilder is committed to ensuring your gown fits beautifully for your special day.
Appointments & Booking
We recommend beginning your alterations around 12 weeks prior to your wedding date.
Appointments are reserved exclusively for you to ensure a calm and personalised experience, try to keep additional guests at these appointments to a minimum,
A non-refundable booking fee of £80 is required to secure your appointment. This fee is redeemable against your final balance.
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule.
Failure to attend appointments or repeated cancellations may effect completion timelines. Wilder is not responsible for delays caused by missed appointments.
Fittings
Most gowns require 2–4 fittings, depending on their design and complexity.
To ensure accuracy, you agree to bring, your wedding shoes, bridal undergarments and any relevant accessories. Wilder cannot guarantee the final fit, length, or finish of the gown if these items are not provided.
Fit & Body Changes
Your gown will be altered to the measurements taken at your first fitting. Wilder cannot be held responsible for changes in fit resulting from:
- Weight fluctuation
- Body shape changes, such as pregnancy.
- Changes in undergarments or footwear
Any further alterations required will be chargeable. Please note a dress can only be taken in by two sizes/ let out by one size (depending on garment construction) without comprising the original design and shape of the dress.
Alterations & Craftsmanship
All alterations are carried out with professional care and attention. However, by proceeding with alterations, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Bridal garments are often constructed from delicate fabrics and may respond unpredictably to handling, stitching, or pressing
- Adjustments to seams, hems, lace, or embellishments may alter the original construction
- It is not always possible to return a gown to its original condition once alterations have commenced
Pricing & Payments
An estimate will be provided at your initial consultation; however, this is not a fixed quote. By proceeding, you agree that:
- Additional work required (including due to fabric behaviour or fitting changes) will incur additional charges
- The final balance must be paid in full upon collection
Wilder reserves the right to retain the gown until all outstanding balances are settled.
Liability & Garment Condition
By entrusting your gown to Wilder, you agree that:
- Wilder are not liable for pre-existing damage, wear, or structural weaknesses
- Wilder are not responsible for manufacturer defects
- Wilder’s liability, in any circumstance, is limited to the value of the alterations carried out, not the value of the gown
Collection & Final Approval
At your final fitting and/or collection, you will have the opportunity to inspect your gown.
Upon collection, you confirm that:
- All agreed alterations have been completed
- You are satisfied with the fit and finish
After collection, we accept no liability for:
- Fit issues
- Damage
- Changes occurring after the gown leaves our care
Storage & Uncollected Items
Gowns must be collected within 10 days of completion.
We reserve the right to:
- Charge storage fees for uncollected items
- Decline responsibility for items left beyond 30 days
Agreement
By booking a fitting appointment and proceeding with alterations, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
